The Catholic University of America

What happens when I make a report about ethical or compliance concerns?

Reports made directly to the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer/Chief Privacy Officer will be reviewed with the appropriate University personnel.  A determination will be made whether corrective action is needed, and the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer/Chief Privacy Officer will oversee that corrective action.

The confidentiality of those making the report, and of those cooperating with the investigation, will be protected to the extent possible.  All reports will be kept private, meaning that they will be shared only on a limited basis and with those with a legitimate need to know about the report.

Reports made through the Compliance and Ethics Helpline will be forwarded to the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer/Chief Privacy Officer, who will review the concerns in the same way as reports that are made through normal channels.  At the conclusion of the investigation a response will be provided to the reporting individual through the Helpline.  This process is followed regardless of whether the individual identifies themselves when reporting through the Helpline or chooses to remain anonymous.

Retaliation against members of the University community for making good faith reports is strictly prohibited, and is subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
