How should I protect myself against data loss?

All important files at work should be kept on a University Google drive, not your local computer. Files located on University Google drives will not be lost in the event your local computer experiences a hardware failure.  Google drives also support collaboration and are accessible from any location where Google can be reached.

Avoid saving confidential data to mobile devices (e.g. laptop, netbook, iPad, Smartphone, external drive, flash drive, etc.).

A password is important but it is not enough to secure confidential data!
