Taking Extra Care with Mobile Computing Devices

Maintain physical control of the device. Treat it like a credit card, storing it securely when not in use and keeping it with you at all times when it is. Do not loan the device to others.

Do not leave your devices in unsecured locations. Even if it is for just a few minutes.

Take steps to avoid theft.

If a mobile computing device must be left behind in a hotel room or other similar location, it should be turned off and secured with a password if possible, and kept out of sight.

Avoid storing confidential data on your mobile device.

Remember: Passwords are important but not sufficient to protect data on mobile devices.

If you use Bluetooth for wireless communication, turn it off when not in use.
